Junior Kindergarten

• Junior Kindergarten (JK) is a structured
  educational program intended for children
  qualifying for Kindergarten the following year.
• Children must turn 4 before March 1st of the
  attending year to qualify for the full time
  program. If your child is younger but ready for a
  school experience, we would recommend one of our
  part time programs (two full days, or five half
  days). Please talk to our director for advice.
• Children in Junior Kindergarten become
  familiarized with French and basic academic
  concepts. At this age, children go through
  multiple activities in a whole day songs,
  movements, crafts, art, free play, outdoor play,
  music, fine motor skills, counting, napping,
  story time, etc. A balance between structured and
  unstructured activities best fit this age group.
• At V.I.K. Academy, JK Students are assigned to an
  educator who guides them through their daily
  activities. With a ratio of 1 adult for 8
  children, educators have the chance to develop a
  close relationship with all children. We find
  that to be a key factor in the emotional
  development of young children.

Full Day Kindergarten

• Alberta Education provides Educators with a
  curriculum offering guidelines for part time
  programs. Offering a Full Day program means that
  not only can we meet those requirements, we can
  also do so much more!
• In our enriched Kindergarten program, there is
  still plenty of time for playing, learning to
  interact with others, moving, and resting. The
  extra time allows us to also work on the
  development of your child as a whole individual,
  introduce him to early literacy and numeracy,
  expand his French language skills, and create
  multiple learning experiences that place your
  child in a world of hands-on discovery.
• The full day schedule also introduces your child
  to an artistic program, (arts, music, dance,
  drama) a physical development program (yoga,
  gross motor skills, out-of-school programs) and
  participate in a variety of field trips.
• At V.I.K. Academy, we maintain a ratio of 1 adult
  for every ten students, with a maximum of twenty
  students.

Extended Days

• We understand that regular program hours (830 to
  330) do not always match your working schedule.
  For this reason, V.I.K. Academy offers the
  optional EXTENDED DAYS for our students.
• Students signed up in the Extended Days Program
  will be supervised by a non-teaching staff member
  between the hours of 700am to 830am and/or
  between 330pm and 600pm.
