is the purposeful application of information in
the design, production, utilization of goods and
services and in the organization of human
activities. Technology has become a major portion
of everyday life, not only in the business aspect
of life, but our personal lives as well. The
benefits of technology to a business are
increased productivity, easier storage, improved
sharing of information, and automation of
functions.

Before the use of technology came about many
businesses had to hire employees for tasks that
could be easily done by a computer generated
robot. For example, the demand for cashiers has
gone down because of the use of self-checkout
registers. The demand for bank tellers has
decreased because of the Automated Teller Machine
or ATM. Also the need for Telemarketers is
decreasing because of Automated Telemarketers,
who remain calm and positive even when dealing
with angry customers.

Instructional Technology, Assistive Technology,
Medical Technology and Informational Technology.
Informational Technology is one of the most
important technologies there is in business.
Informational technology, also known as IT, can
be defined as the technology involving the
development, maintenance, and use of computer

processing and distribution of data. IT helps
many businesses in many different ways

fellow employees and the employer. These
resources can also be used to update employees or
employers on what you have accomplished, and what

shared work spaces can increase efficiency and
allow employees to finish more work quickly.
