2
You need enough time for writing a qualitative
research paper. One couldnt do it within several
hours, days and even weeks. A qualitative
research paper is a research paper based on your
independent investigation that requires a lot of
time.
3
The Steps of Writing a Qualitative Research Paper
1. The first step is formulating the approximate
theme which depends on your interests. Try to
choose the less studied subject areas, as it will
be easier for you to speak about the relevance of
the topic and advances in research.
4
By the way, some young researchers dont clearly
distinguish these two different terms a
relevance of the topic and advances in
research. The first term means why there is a
necessity in a fundamental analysis of your
subject area and the second term means what is
something new in your researchment.
5
2. To make an investigation, you first need to
read all (or almost all) the scientific
literature connected with your theme. Even if you
consider yourself as a highly skilled
professional, refresh your memory in the library.
Aside from that, you may find recently published
monographs or articles on your theme. Dont
reinvent the wheel!
6
3. Make an analysis of the scientific literature.
Are there any omissions? Fill this gap! Thus, you
can formulate the second (but not the last)
variant of your theme.
7
  • 4. Define the subject area and the specific topic
    of the investigation.
  • Incidentally, many young researchers often
confuse these two different terms a subject
area and a specific topic. The first term is
broader, the second one is narrower.

8
5. List the necessary tasks of your research
paper. The ideal amount of the necessary tasks is
four or five tasks.
9
6. Think about the research methodology. The
adequate methods (descriptive, comparative,
typological, etc.) of the investigation depend on
the specific topic. The ideal amount of the
methods is the same as ideal amount of the
necessary tasks you may choose four or five
methods.
10
7. After that, start the practical part. It may
be an experiment, a sociological survey, an
anonymous questionnaire, etc. The practical part
peculiarities depend on the branch of science and
your research methodology.
11
8. When your practical part is fully complete,
you may formulate the third variant of the theme.
12
9. Describe the results of your practical part.
Do you need to repeat your experiment or
sociological survey? If your answer is Yes, do
it.
13
10. Make a fundamental analysis of your subject
area. Remember that a research paper always has
its traditional basic structure.
14
The Basic Structure of the Research Paper
The basic structure of the research paper
comprises an introduction, two (or more) sections
(the underlying theory section and the
development of hypotheses), a conclusion, a
bibliography and appendixes.
15
1. In the introduction you have to mention the
following items the relevance of the topic, the
objectives of the research, the necessary tasks,
the subject area, the specific topic, the
hypothesis, the research methodology, advances in
research, the practical value and a short
description of the basic structure of the paper.
16
2. The underlying theory section is your analysis
(not a compilation!) of the scientific literature
connected with you theme and the development of
hypothesis is your analysis of your own results
in the practical part of your work.
17
3. The conclusion is a confirmation (or a
refutation) of the hypothesis. Dont forget that
you need to give answers for all the necessary
tasks!
18
4. Please mention in the bibliography only the
literature you have really read and used in your
research paper.
19
  • 5. The appendixes are non-required, but desirable
part of your research work. It is also a
    demonstration that your investigation is
    independent.
  • Good luck in writing a research paper!
