2LIFE IN THE WATER
3 AQATIC ANIMALS
An aquatic animal is an animal, either vertebrate
or invertebrate, which lives in water for most or
all of its life. It may breathe air or extract
its oxygen from that dissolved in water through
specialized organs called gills, or direct
through its skin.
4Some of aquatic animals
5HABITAT OF FISH and how do they breathe ?
- Fish live in the water.
- Like all living thing fish need oxygen to live.
- They get oxygen from water by taking water into
their mouths and passing it over their gills.
6DIFFERENT TYPES OF AQATIC HABITES
1 Marine Habitats
Marine habitats are the home to seaweeds,
or marine algae (brown, green, red), sea grasses,
which are the only marine flowering plants, and
mangroves, located on muddy tropical shores.
7FRESHWATER HABITIAT
Lakes and rivers are created by streams high in
the mountains that flow down when evaporated sea
water falls as rain. The majority of the water
that evaporates out of the ocean disappears into
the atmosphere but the rest falls as rain into
the freshwater rivers and then back into the sea.
Streams, rivers and lakes are home to
countless animal species all around the world.
8Coastal habitats
Coasts are places where the land meets the sea.
Australia is an island and has a huge coastline
that has many different habitats. Coastal
habitats include beaches, rock pools, estuaries
and mangroves.
