As a drivers Blood alcohol concentration level
(BAC) increases, so does the risk of them having
a crash.

• Risk of being involved in a crash
• 0.05 double the risk.
• 0.08 7 times the risk.
• 0.15 25 times the risk.
• NSW has 3 BAC limits
• Zero Learner and
• Provisional 1 2 drivers.
• 0.02 Drivers of vehicles

• around 20 percent of all fatal

• results in the deaths of over

The majority of drink drivers in fatal crashes
across NSW are male (88) and aged under 40
(75). Most of these drivers crash in their local
area.

Strategies to prevent dangerously driving when
drunk

• If you are planning to drink at a party,
• make sure you plan that you do NOT drive
• home. Instead
• Arrange overnight accommodation
• Share a taxi with friends
• Use public transport
• Ride with a driver who isnt drunk and hasnt
  taken drugs
• Arrange for family or relatives to pick you up
