Safe Driving Tips for Teens on the Road
2
  • Teens are the most at risk drivers on the road,
crashing 4 times more frequently than senior
adults. Car crashes are one of the leading causes
of death in the age group 18 to 20.
  • Initial years behind the wheel are the most
dangerous. The death rate for male teenage
drivers is two times higher than their female
    counterparts.
  • Lets take a look at some of the causes behind
    these concerning statistics.

3
Inadequate Experience
  • As teenage drivers are still learning to drive,
they are much more likely to make critical
    mistakes.
  • Teenagers often underestimate the condition of
hazardous roads due to their inexperience.

4
Seat Belt Usage
  • Compared to other age groups, teenagers are less
likely to use their seat belts.
  • Teenagers with other passengers in the car are
more prone to having accidents due to the
distraction of others in the car.

5
Distracted Driving
  • Distracted driving creates risk for all ages of
drivers. However, unfortunately, this risk is
    higher for teenage drivers.
  • Avoiding the use of cell phones is a must, when
driving or even when sitting close to the driver.

6
Speed Limit
  • Excessive speed is a major contributor to fatal
    accidents.
  • Accidents are also more common when driving in
high volumes of traffic for obvious reasons.

7
Safety Tips for Teens
  • Do not drive recklessly. Reckless driving is
hazardous to others and to yourself.
  • Avoid driving at night. As driving skills are
still developing, darkness makes it more
    difficult for an inexperienced driver.
  • Do not drive for long distances and always ensure
    you are fully alert.
  • Never drink or take drugs when driving.
