Nancy is excited to be a part of South Denver
Midwives and is looking forward to caring for you
and your family. She is happy to be using her
creative energy to help grow our thriving
midwifery practice at Littleton and Castle Rock.
Her heart is to offer the true midwifery model of
care in keeping with a holistic approach.
Sarah has been practicing midwifery for over ten
years and has caught hundreds of babies. She
received her bachelors in biology at Barnard
College in New York City and her Masters of
Science in Nursing with a specialty in Midwifery
at the Yale School of Nursing in New Haven,
Connecticut.
2Pregnancy - Resources
We would like to take this opportunity to
congratulate you on your pregnancy and welcome
you to our practice. We are very honored to be
participating in your care during such a
wonderful time in your life. Pregnancy can be
exciting but also occasionally stressful or
confusing. Whether this is your first pregnancy
or your third, you will have questions about what
to expect. The providers and staff at South
Denver Ob/Gyn have created this information
booklet to help answer some common questions that
many women have.
3A Holistic Approach
South Denver Midwives are holistic-minded
advanced practice nurses who pay attention to a
womans physical, emotional and spiritual needs.
Education and preventive care is a priority, and
we take the time to listen to and answer your
questions. We believe in informed decision
making, and partner with you and your family when
discussing choices and options.
We recognize benefits of both Western and Eastern
medicine, and balance human touch with
technology. Our goal is to empower women to have
trust and confidence within themselves and their
own bodys abilities.
4Certified Nurse-Midwife
Certified Nurse-Midwives are registered nurses
with a masters degree, and have education in two
disciplines, Nursing and Midwifery. CNMs are
board certified, independently licensed, and have
prescriptive authority in all 50 states. They
primarily work in clinics and hospitals, and in
addition to attending over 10 of the births in
Colorado, provide pregnancy and gynecological
care from puberty to menopause.
They are able to collect for insurance
reimbursement with private insurance, Medicare
and Medicaid. Certified Nurse-Midwives are
experts in understanding the normalcy of birth,
and recognizing potential complications early.
They collaborate with physicians if complications
arise. They care for women who desire either a
natural labor or a medicated labor (including
epidurals), and can first assist during a
cesarean section.
