The masthead has changed dramatically over the
years.
The only thing they have kept the same is the
colour red.

NME used to be a Music Newspaper so the images
were always in black and white
These images show the rock bands that were famous
in the past. Therefore NME must have been more
about Rock Music than Alternative Music. This is
mainly because Alternative Music, like Indie,
hasnt been around for ages.

The text use to be very formal and factual. As
you can see from the article about Gary Thains

The images contained lots of crazy poses and
makeup. They also carried instruments in some of
the photos.
The majority of the fonts they use are quite
simple but sometimes they would use fonts like
this.
