1Frankenstein A Modern Myth Analysis
2Type of Documentary
- The type of documentary is mixed as it has a
variety of clips that are archived footage, added
to that there are interviews with people that are
relevant to the themes of the documentary - The themes for the documentary have a range of
different accounts, the horror genre, the life
and work of Mary Shelley and how exactly the
controversial story has been adapted over the
years. - It is a non-linear documentary as it doesnt
follow a precise order in time, it is single
stranded as it focuses on one theme. Finally it
is a closed documentary as everything is covered
so there isnt anything that can be questioned.
3Camera Work
Medium close ups are used frequently used
throughout the documentary. This shot at the
start gives a brief outline of whats happening,
also the black and white theme is a reoccurring
colour scheme.
This establishing shot sets the scene for where
the famous events take place in a Frankenstein
film.

of a body which gives an insight to what theyre
talking about. human

although its a medium close up it follows most
codes and conventions rule of thirds and not
looking directly at the camera.

meant to be. He is also placed to the right of
the screen not directly in the middle.
It is rare to have two people in on the screen at
once but there is a medium close up used.

which will give an idea to the audience of what's
to come in the documentary.
When interviewees appear on the screen, the text
underneath follows the codes and conventions. The
top line with their name is always in a larger
font than the second line which is their
occupation or relevance to the documentary.
This is the opening title to the documentary. The
text may be just black and white but with the
lighting bold gives it that effect linking it to
the horror genre.
