The Twin City and Minneapolis Moline Farm
Tractors! Twin City farm tractors were built by
the Minneapolis Steel and Machinery Company
(MSMC) in the early 1900s, from 1916 up until
1938. The Minneapolis-Moline Company was formed
by the merger of Minneapolis Steel and Machinery,
the Minneapolis Threshing Machine Company, and
the Moline Plow Company in 1929. Minneapolis
Steel brought tractor experience to the group,
having built tractors for Case and Bull, along
with its own line of Twin City tractors.

More About the Twin City (TC) and The
Minneapolis-Moline (MM) Farm Tractors! The
brand names of Twin City and Minneapolis-Moline
were virtually considered as being all part of
the same company which started back in the early
1900s. In fact, both brand names appeared on the
tractors that were built during the transition
from the TC to the MM brands. Early Twin
City tractor models were built for heavy duty
work and hard pulling, which not only included
the plowing of many acres of virgin prairie land,
but also the building of roads. The MM brand of
tractors continued thereafter as popular and
powerful farm tractors, many of which still
appear at public tractor pull contests.

Tractor Models Related to the MM
Brand! Minneapolis-Moline was purchased by the
White Motor Company in 1963 and the
Minneapolis-Moline name was dropped in 1974. The
Allis Gleaner Corporation (AGCO) purchased
White Motors in 1991. In the early 1970s,
White Motors sold four Oliver tractor models
rebranded as Minneapolis-Moline the Oliver
1555 was sold as the G-550, the Oliver 1655 was
sold as the G-750, the Oliver 1755 was sold as
the G-850 and the Oliver 1855 was sold as the
G-940. In 1971, White Motors sold two diesel
imports made by Fiat as Minneapolis-Moline the
MM G-350 and the MM G-450. The G-350 was also
sold as the Oliver 1265 and the Cockshutt 1265
the G-450 was sold as the Oliver 1365 and the
Cockshutt 1365. All of these other farm tractor
models are shown near the end of this slide
show. Our slide show begins now with the early
Twin City Farm Tractors, and continues thereafter
with the Minneapolis Moline Farm tractors models
and their equivalents in other tractor brands.

This was the smallest tractor in the Twin
City heavyweight line and it was introduced in
1913. Two forward gears were used along with two
different engines. Early production used a tube
radiator with a horizontal cross-mount engine.

Twin City 60-90. This was the largest, most
powerful gasoline engine powered tractor in the
United States for almost seven years, from 1913
until 1920. The tractor weighed more than 28,000
lbs. and sold for about 6,000. The engine was
six-cylinders with a 7 1/4- by 9-inch bore and
stroke with a rated 535 RPM. The tractor could
be cranked from the operator's platform at the
rear of the tractor.

The Twin City 60-95!
No photo was available of a Twin City 60-95
tractor for this slide show. According to other
data available about this tractor it was probably
very similar but smaller than the Twin City 60-90
which appeared in the previous slide. The
Twin City 60-95 was built from 1916 to 1918. The
engine was a 36.5L 6-cyl kerosene, capable of 60
HP at the Drawbar and 95 HP at the Belt. The
plow rating for this tractor was 12-14, and the
tractor weighed about 27,100 lbs, or 13.5 Tons.
The cost of this tractor was about 4,200 in the
early 1920s.
