Effects of Sangrovit in Vegetarian Diets for
Broilers Single Use or Combination with Organic
Acids (2006)
Prof. S. Vieíra (Brazil) Universidade Federal do
Rio Grande do Sul Departamento de Zootecnia
2
Objective The trial was conducted to investigate
the effect of Sangrovit and a combination of
Sangrovit and an organic acid blend on
performance and profitability in fattening
broiler. Place University research farm,
Eldorado do Sul, RS, Brasil Animals 1540
CobbxCobb 500 one day old male broilers from a
commercial hatchery weight at beginning average
49 g 11 replicates/treatment

3
Housing and management The broiler house used is
located in Eldorado do Sul, RS, Brasil. It has 48
boxes measuring 1,65 X 1,75 m. Butane gas heaters
were regulated to allow animal comfort. Birds
were under 24 hours lighting program in the first
week, and in a maximum of 18 hours thereafter.
Birds were placed in a density of 10
birds/m². Birds were vaccinated for Coccidiosis
at placement with Paracox-5.

4
Treatments Sangrovit was added to the feeds in
the concentration of 50 ppm in the Starter and 25
ppm in the Grower and Finisher diets. A
commercially available organic acid blend was
used (40 Lactic, 7 Acetic, 5 Phosphoric and 1
Butyric Acid - (Premium LAC with EM 3.200 Kcal/
kg).

A 50 ppm from d0 to d21, 25 ppm from d21 to d35,
25ppm from d35 to d42 B 40 lactic acid 7

5
Feeding
Feed and water were offered ad libitum.

Feed Intake
9
Summary whole trial period (d0-d42)
  • Sangrovit and organic acids demonstrated and
    overall improvement of broiler performance
    throughout the study.
  • Sangrovit supplemented with organic acids in the
feed led to the best feed conversion response.

10
Summary whole trial period (d0-d42)
11
Profitability
R Real
  • Sangrovit alone and Sangrovit in combination with
an organic acids blend cleary improve the
profitability due to a better feed conversion
    ratio.
  • (Calculation unaccounted for higher slaughter
    weight.)
