Sections

• Conic derived from the word cone
• Conics sections are curves that result from the
  intersection of a cone and a plane
• Circles when a plane perpendicular to the axis
  of the cone
• Ellipses when a plane that is not perpendicular
  to the axis and that intersects only a single
  nappe
• Parabolas when a plane that is not
  perpendicular to the axis and that intersects
  only a single nappe
• Hyperbolas when a plane intersecting both
  nappes
