- We will have a lot of homework and lab grades,
- You will be graded on participation, which is
included in the "daily grade". - Here is the percentage breakdown that final
grades are based on
16Grading Policy
17Homework Policy
- Homework is very important
- The purpose of homework is to practice for the
exams - Answers to homework will be posted
- You will check yourself as you go, or upon
entering the room - If you miss a problem, it should be reworked
until you achieve the correct answer. - Some homework will be turned in to be checked
18Student Work Policy
- All work must be handed in by due date
- If an assignment is late and I will grade it
with deductions of 2 brownie points
and 20 credit. - All work must be done neatly and legibly.
- You must show ALL appropriate work on
mathematical calculations to receive any credit.
19What supplies are required?
- I expect you to obtain ASAP
- A signed Acceptable Use Policy
- Scientific Calculator
- Writing utensils
- A bound notebook for bell-ringer activities
- 3 ring binder to organize notes
- 3.00 lab fee
20As a student, what do you expect of me for class
time?
- You will be expected to have your notebooks out,
pencils sharpened, and ready to work when class
begins - If you arrive late, please quietly take your seat
and see me after class. - If you miss a class lecture, you should copy
notes from your Homework Buddy, then seem me
about anything you do not understand
21As a student, what do you expect of me for class
time?
- It is your responsibility to have a complete set
of class notes. - I expect to have your complete attention and
cooperation. - I expect you to be responsible for your own
learning - I expect you to work up until time for dismissal
22Are we allowed to work together on class work?
- Usually, as long as
- Work on the assignment given
- Work with neighbor closest to you or your
Homework Buddy - Use your library voices
- Rule of thumb if I cant hear the music you are
too loud. - STAY ON TASK!!!
23When am I tardy?
- I follow Dunbars tardy policy and uphold it
pretty strictly - If the first block starts at 830 and you come
into the room at 830 you are tardy. - Watch the clock in the halls
- It doesnt matter what the clock in my room
says, the hall clocks are the definitive
authority on the Dunbar time
24How are assignments collected?
- Assignments are due by the end of the block the
day its due - It is YOUR responsibility to turn ALL assignments
into the appropriate basket - It is YOUR responsibility to keep up with
assignment due dates, Ill remind you once or
twice, but I hold you responsible for your own
fate.
25How do we know when an assignment is due?
- Assignments due dates are usually posted on the
board when assigned - There will also be verbal reminders
- Assignments and due dates are also posted online
at the class calendar
http//staff.fcps.net/jswango/Calendar.htm
26How do we get makeup work if we are absent?
- Find your homework buddy
- Get any handouts missed
- Ask for a brief run-down of what was missed
- Make an appointment with me for any lab-work
missed - Keep up with your missing work by checking posted
grades often.
27What is a Homework Buddy?
- A good strategy to keep up with class is to hook
up with a buddy or set of buddies - 2 or 3 students work together in a team, that way
when one of the team is absent the others - Get an extra of EVERYTHING handed out that day
- Provide their homework buddy with missed
materials and notes.
28How do we prepare to leave class?
- Stay seated and work until you are dismissed
- I dismiss the class, not your watch and not
other students out in the halls - ABSOLUTELY NO lining up at the
door. - No one goes anywhere until every-one is seated in
their seats.
29Behavior Participation
- All Dunbar rules are followed in my class.
- Including no food and drink in class
- No CD players, cell phones, or beepers
- No disrespect, defiance, deception, profanity, or
obscenity.

visitors, and me. - No sitting on the tops of the desks, lab counters
and tables - Its my music that is played on my radio no

unless told to do so
