Title: Portrait of the Soul Winner
1Portrait of the Soul Winner
- Their EARS are open to the cries for help from a
lost and dying world. - Their EYES are ever searching for a receptive
heart, in which to plant the Word of God. - Their LIPS are always ready and willing to
proclaim the glory of God. - Their HANDS are always turning the pages of Gods
Holy Word, seeking His will for them. - Their FEET are on the move to carry out the words
of Christ to preach the gospel to every creature.
2Portrait of Soul Winner (contd)
- Their HEARTS are beating and breaking with the
urgency to reach the lost before its too late. - Their HEADS are bowed in a prayer to the Father
in heaven, to give them wisdom to carry out the
mission. - Their FACES glow with the hope that is in them.
- Their LIVES are like the light of the city set
upon a hill that cannot be hid. - They are the light of the world.
- In Christ they live, and move, and have their
being.
3 Making the Approach . . .
- Not cold or mechanical, but warm and heart-felt.
- Integrated and blended into your lifestyle, not
compartmentalized. - Blessed privilege natural outgrowth of your
deep and meaningful relationship with the Lord. - It is so much what you know, but Who you have
come to know, and how badly you want others to
know Him! - A tree does not have to force itself to bear
fruit!
4Communication principle 1
- Meet people at the point of their felt need. Mk
217 - To find out, must first LISTEN.
- What do you say first?
- Ask Where are you hurting?
- We must love and befriend people before we can
effectively teach them. Lk 191-10
5Communication principle 2
- The salvation comes in the message, but the
preparation comes in the serving. - What rule did John the Baptist play?
- Do we have a John the Baptist running ahead of us
preparing the way? - Must prepare the heart by showing genuine concern
for them as a person.
6 The approaches . . .
- Written approach
- Write out a letter in your own handwriting, or
type so it is personal. - Send first class with hand written return address
label. - Sample -pg 125, Per. Evangelism 101 David Tant
- Would you allow me to share with you a concept
of simple, undenominational Christianity based
solely on the Bible? I would like to at your
convenience spend about an hour discussing
something that is so simple it may revolutionize
your thinking. No coercion, no pressure, just a
Bible study together. I will call in a few days
for your response, it is completely your
decision. - Advantage easier for soul-winner, does not take
the person by surprise.
7 Oral approaches . . .
- The Scattering seed approach.
- Similar to throwing out bait.
- Mention something spiritual, your interest and
love for the Bible wait. - Follow up later, they are more receptive.
- Shift in conversation approach
8 Three simple questions . . .
- If you were to die tonight, are you sure you
would go to heaven? - Get their salvation experience!
- If you could know how you could know for sure,
would be interested? - If I could show you from the Bible how you could
know for sure would you be willing to do what it
said? I Jn 513
9 Keys
- Be natural, enthusiastic, and understanding.
- Never doubt sincerity
- Avoid the acute angle, establish common ground.
10Personal Work Tools . . .

have the right tool.
11Equip and empower the saints with the

use.. - The Way Home New Testament
- Inexpensive, pass out to visitors as your gift if
they arrive without a Bible!

look at todays evangelical church in the light
of early Christianity. David Bercot - Powerful . . Former Presbyterian, no contact with
brethren. - Christian writings not inspired, but provide a
reference point to understand what the
interpretations were of those closest to the
apostles. - What believed about salvation
- What believed about predestination and free will

- Considerations
- Congregational Vision statement
- Sign You are now entering a mission field.
- Prominent sign in foyer Our mission, seek and
save the lost! - The key is an on-going emphasis and a continual
commitment over time. - Real basis for success is the kind of follow up
that is done after the series is complete. - A tale of two congregations . . .
- Not just one class using the material
- Offer the class periodically and inform all new
members as a part of a new member orientation
what personal work tools are available and the
need for them to be trained in evangelism.
23We will have more conversions when we have more
convictions
- One man awake, can awaken another
- The second can waken His next door brother.
- The three awake can rouse a town
- By turning the whole world upside down,
- The many awake can make such a fuss
- That it finally awakens the rest of us!
- One man up
- With dawn in his eyes,
- Multiplies!
