Program Outcomes
  • Are used to determine whether the programs
    purpose is being achieved.
  • Outcomes information provides concrete,
    meaningful, and useful evidence of achievement of
    the programs purpose.
  • Outcomes also provide information to direct
    improvement. Thus, a programs instructional
    outcomes serve as the foundation for assessment
    planning.

  • There should be a linkage between the mission of
    the college and that of the program.
  • Likewise, their should be a connection between a
    programs mission and its outcomes

  • Start small-with three to five outcomes.
  • Keep them measurable.
  • Outcomes are faculty written and updated.
  • Must support at least one institutional outcome.

Linkage to Institutional Outcomes

    course syllabi)

  • Establish uniform links from course outcomes to
    program outcomes. (Especially in cases of
    multiple instructors.)
