I Stratégic Directions
  1. Support production of instruments for ecotourism
    development in all types of Protected Areas
  2. Support Tourism Assessment of Priority Key
    Biodiversity Areas is conducted
  3. Assessment of service value chain for tourism
    investments in selected KBAs
  4. Support key institutions needed for active
    promotion of biodiversity conservation and to
    influence national tourism policy to support
    implementation of ecotourism strategies
  5. Foster mechanisms that enable partnerships
    (including community involvement) to achieve
    biodiversity conservation outcomes selected KBAs,
    through ecotourism.

II Successfull results
  • Key Persons of Ecotourism Development in the
    Corridor Mantadia Zahamena are mobilized through
    CDE (Comités de Développement de l'Ecotourisme)
    in Alaotra, Mangoro and Atsinanana Subregions
  • Tourism Assessment of the Corridor is done to
    help decision makers and key persons to plan
    ecotourism management and development iin the
    Corridor
  • Regional Planning is on process by the Commitees
    that includes Private Sectors, PA Managers,
    Tourism and Forest Department, Regional
    Development Officer, NGOs and Donors
  •  Madagascar , movies Passport.

II Current Tourism Activities
  • Support the CDEs to finalize the Regional
    Ecotourism Planning that will define each
    responsabilities of each stakeholders
  • Identify technical and financial needs that CI
    can support
  • Partnership development with IFC /PEP USAID
    PIC /WB VV
  • Increasing Competitiveness of Micro and Small
    Entreprises in the Tourism Industry of Madagascar
    (An Innovative Approach to Economic Growth and
    Poverty Reduction

  • Lack of understanding between tourism SMEs and
    community/ PAs managers
  • Lack of niche market targeting in National and
    international level
  • Biodiversity Outcomes Monitoring
  • Financial and Policy environment that should
    enable investment including land tenure and
    financial system, basic infrastructure
    development (water, road, acces, energy)
