• Multimedia
• Is a term which has become very much part of the
  Information Technology vocabulary.
• For educators it has become a major issue of
  discussion when considering curriculum planning
  and learning outcomes in the area of Information
  Technology.

• Multimedia
• Software which uses more than one medium of
  communication.
• Text, Graphics, Sound, Animation, Video.
• Information is presented in a non-linear, often
  exciting, motivating interactive way.

• Hypermedia
• Software which utilises linked media.
• Linked media allows the user to interact with the
  software such as clicking on highlighted text,
  graphics, icons which will then jump to another
  part of information.

• New Media (Interactive Multimedia).
• Materials which are both Multimedia and
  Hypermedia.
• Interactive multimedia engages the user by
  allowing them to make choices such as clicking to
  activate a video, click and dragging to match
  objects or simply clicking a button to navigate.
• Interactive Multimedia is most commonly found on
  CD-ROMs or the World Wide Web.
