book (Z.P.D.)
  • Last, he/she receives instantaneous results and

Z.P.D.?
What is the
  • Z.P.D. stands for the Zone of Proximal
    Development which indicates
  • an appropriately leveled area of reading that
    will maximize
  • your childs reading potential.

How can I figure out my childs Z.P.D.?
At your next conference, ask your childs
teacher for the A.R. ZPD.
Your childs teacher can guide you based
on Formal observations/assessments (STAR
test results, Weekly Reading Tests,
etc) Informal observations/assessments (Clas
s observations, AR diagnostic reports, etc)

labeled with dots as well.

You might even have a few A.R. books at home.
Our full list of A.R. titles can be downloaded

What do the Stars Mean?
The colored stars indicate the point levels that
a child can achieve throughout the year. The
point level grid is based on national statistics
and the gold star range indicates the average
number of points a child should achieve by the
end of the school year. The number of points can
be equated to the amount of reading practice.
What do the Double-Mounted Stars Mean?
The white double-mounted stars are the BEST color
to have! The double-mounts indicate accuracy
therefore the white stars can be equated to
comprehensionone major goal of reading. When a
child achieves a point level with (or above) 80
accuracy, then he/she will have a double-mounted
star posted!
