Title: Be Radical

1
Be Radical
  • Introduction
  • Commit Yourself
  • Do Something Radical
  • Conclusion

2
I. Introduction
  • Radical
  • From Latin
  • Original Definition From the root or source.
  • Modern Definition To do something extreme or out
    of the ordinary.
  • Appears in the Bible exactly zero times
  • Deep down we want to do radical things, but what
    stops us?

3
II. Commit Yourself
  • John 1
  • The Word Became Flesh
  •  1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was
with God, and the Word was God. 2He was with God
in the beginning.  3Through him all things were
made without him nothing was made that has been
made. 4In him was life, and that life was the
light of men. 5The light shines in the darkness,
but the darkness has not understood it.
  • God created the universe with his word
  • God created us in his image
  • We create things with our words

4
II. Commit Yourself
  • By our words we create intangible/invisible
    things
  • Things like hope, commitment, love, promises,
    conviction, gratitude, and praise
  • Examples Marriage vows and confession
  • Rom 109 That if you confess with your mouth,
"Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that
God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10For it is with your heart that you believe and
are justified, and it is with your mouth that you
    confess and are saved.
  • Commit yourself with your words
  • Luke 198 But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the
Lord, "Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my
possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated
anybody out of anything, I will pay back four
    times the amount."

III. Do Something Radical
  • Break the cycle of faithlessness by doing
    something radical
  • Mat 1428 "Lord, if it's you," Peter replied,
"tell me to come to you on the water."
  •  29"Come," he said.
  •    Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on
the water and came toward Jesus. 30But when he
saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to
sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!"
  • Many other examples in the Bible like Acts 214
and Acts 826, Acts 26 and more
  • how can anything faithful happen if you don't do
    something out of the ordinary?

6
IV. Conclusion
  • Commit yourself with your words. Its about your
    integrity.
  • Do what you say and say what you will do
  • Commit yourself to doing something radical
