What is a Hurricane?

• A hurricane has to be over 75mph winds
• There is a lot of rainfall when there is a
  hurricane.
• Hurricanes acre in the Atlantic ocean.

Where do hurricanes occur?

• Hurricanes occur in the tropical areas
• The water has to be over 27oC.
• It starts of in the sunny waters of Africa when
  the water starts to evaporate .
• Warm humid air spirals in towards the eye
• The air makes it go round in circles picking up
  speed heading for the coastline.

Hurricanes can do a lot of damage like you can
see in these pictures Many people die, people
homeless and loads of money is lost.

Case Study.

• In 1992 hurricane Andrew hit Florida and the Bar
  harmers. There was over 75mph winds, heavy wind
  fall and huge waves over 50Ft high.
• 23 people lost there lives, people lost there
  homes, no electric or water for a while.
• People blocked windows to prepare for the
  hurricane
