Smoking Rules
  • No smoking allowed in common rooms / common
    areas.
  • Smoking is permitted in your own bedroom
  • Smoking in apartment living spaces only by group
    consensus.
  • Where there is not consensus among a group No
    Smoking applies in that Apartment.
  • Cigarette Butts are not to be thrown out windows,
    esp. onto roofs on House 17-19. Offenders will be
    disciplined under Litter Offences.

Locked Out
  • In the event of a lock out, or card malfunction,
    outside office hours. Call security (8990) From
    the Security room phone. (01 7008990 from Mobile)
  • Security issues take priority and you may have to
    wait a short while. 
  • Please give your mobile number to security.
  • Expect a return call from Security and please
    answer your phone!

ID Cards
  • Have ready for security inspection.
  • Never give your card to anyone!
  • Report lost cards immediately for cancellation.
  • No charge for encoding student cards

Overnight Guest Policy How it operates!
  • Apply online Campus Res Website
  • Request must be submitted by 12 noon (12 noon on
    Friday for weekend guest)
  • 5 administration charge per request
  • First come / first served basis for approval
  • Notification by 4pm
  • Print bring e-mail confirmation when checking
    in guest
  • Please Note You are always Responsible for your
    guests actions.

Guest Requirements
  • Guest must be aged 17 or over.
  • Must carry photo ID.
  • Must be accompanied by resident after 12
    midnight.
  • Must reside only in residents apartment after 12
    midnight.
  • 80 fine applicable for breaches of this policy

  • Maximum of 250 guests on campus overnight

    80/visitor being levied against Occupiers in

  • Kitchen Bedroom are the commonest seats of
    origin
  • Cigarettes / chip-pans / candles / electrical

    residences.
  • Fire Compartmentation by design fire doors
  • Alarm activates in apartment on detection of
    smoke / excessive heat.
  • All systems linked to Security Control Room

  • Escape routes maintained.

Emergency Response Management Systems
  • Houses 1 17 split into separate alarm zones.
  • evacuate house where alarm sounds, standby to
    evacuate adjoining houses.
  • Weekly fire safety checks throughout the complex.
  • Alarm Sounders tested regularly.

Role of SecurityIn an Emergency Situation
  • Security responds to alarm.
  • Security ascertain if there is an actual
    emergency or if there has been a false alarm.
  • If it is a false alarm, Security will inform
    those at assembly point allow re-entry.
  • If Emergency, Fire Brigade will be called.
  • Residents should co-operate at all times with
    Security during evacuation.

On Discovering a Fire
  • Break a Break Glass unit immediately
  • Only use a Fire Blanket / Fire Extinguisher if
    confident to do so while keeping escape route at
    your back.
  • Leave the building proceed to Assembly Point.
  • Contact security on 5999.

Evacuation Procedures
  • On hearing the alarm
  • Switch off any cooking appliances.
  • Leave the apartment shutting all doors behind
    you.
  • Report to the assembly point outside the Sports
    Complex.
  • Let Security know if any of your housemates are
    missing.

  • Trapped in your room / apartment by smoke/flame
    outside?
  • Close the door.
  • Prevent smoke ingress.
  • Cooler, cleaner air close to the floor crawl.
  • Wave a sheet etc at window to attract attention
  • Clothes / Hair catch fire
  • Stop, drop roll

  • Take reasonable care for your own safety - and
    safety of others.
  • Comply with emergency evacuation procedures.
  • Do not intentionally interfere with or misuse
  • safety equipment.

Maintenance Reporting
  • All students living on campus to report
    maintenance issues directly to Estates Office.
  • Access system through Student Portal Page or main
    Estates Office page.
  • Emergencies Only still to be reported to
    accommodation reception.
  • Residents will be able to track each job logged
    through the system.

Other Issues
  • Flyers - posting of flyers into apartments is not
    permitted.  Posters may be displayed on notice
    boards only.
  • Insurance - all students are advised to take out
    own insurance.  Possessions are not covered as
    per TC. - for leaks, damages etc
  • Pets Not Allowed

Influenza A(H1N1)
  • If you fall ill while in campus accommodation
  • Contact the Student Health Service 5143 / 5766
    (not by personal visit).
  • If you are advised that you have influenza you
    should inform the university through your Student
    Portal Page.
  • Arrange to be collected by family or other
    relatives or close friends who will care for you
    for the duration of the influenza
  • You should only return to university after you
    have recovered and certainly not less than seven
    days after the onset of the illness.

Influenza A(H1N1)
  • What will happen if another student in my
    apartment falls ill?
  • If another student within an apartment falls ill
    with influenza, the student will not be relocated
    from the apartment.
  • Residents of the apartment should follow the
    hygiene recommendations published by the
    statutory authorities on personal hygiene.
  • Note it will not be possible to relocate
    residents on campus.

Private Residential Tenancies Board (PRTB)
This notice refers to College Park Residences
only
  • College Park (CP) covered by Section 50 agreement
    between DCU and investors.
  • Necessary for all CP students to be registered
    with PRTB within the meaning of section 372AO of
    the Tax Consolidation Act 1997
  • The following is required from each student

  • Or Nationality if the student has not PPS No.
