2Participants began arriving around 830 a.m.
Project Leaders Karen Terlaak and Barbara
Stiebeling were on hand to welcome them.
Project Leader Roy Szubski puts the finishing
touches on some of the decorations.
3The Milestones Toward Excellence opened with Rita
Bowling welcoming the participants and the 27
hospitals they represented. Barbara Stiebeling
introduced the Hospital Presenters. The first
presenter was Southwest General Health Center
with speakers Colleen Gazzillo and Immelda Murphy
talking about their involvement in the SCIP
project beginning with SIPP.
4Here is Liz Baynes of HMHP- St. Elizabeth Health
Center of Youngstown sharing with the audience
her hospitals presentation -- Evolution of
SCIP Implementation to Sustain.
5Becky Zechman of The Toledo Hospital
enthusiastically shared her presentation ACM A
Team Approach.
6Gayle OBrien of Akron General Medical Center
shared her hospitals efforts in AMI and
presented on Improving PCI Time.
7Break and Poster Rounds A few of the hospitals
put a lot of creative effort into their posters.

11While participants were reviewing the posters, it
was time to cut the cake and get ready for our
next presenters.
Upon registration, participants received a raffle
ticket. Tickets were drawn throughout the day.
Project Leader Mona Wendell announced one of the
lucky winners, Nancy Stack.
12Jean Thompson of Mercy Hospital Tiffin shared her
Evolution of SCIP presentation with the group and
ended with a question to the audience of which
SCIP animal they preferred. Her beagle SCIP or
CATS. The crowd responded with SCIP being the
winner.

13Panel Discussion Moderated by Project Leader Ann
Fitzsimons, the discussion topic was Team
Dynamics, Methods and Measurement, Sustain
Spread. Panel Members included Ed Syron of
Grandview and Southview Hospitals, from
MedCentral Kay Truax, and Pam Yusz and Ruth Bakst
sitting in for Parma Community General Hospital.

20To Sleep , Per Chance to Dream
No sleeping here as all eyes focused on Keynote
Speaker Ronald Savrin, MD,MBA, and his
thought-provoking view on the U.S. healthcare
system.
21Dr. Savrin opened his presentation with the
unfortunate Nightmares patients can confront
while in the healthcare system and his Dreams
of the future, when patients, doctors and health
information can be just a point and click away.
22Getting Ready for the Future Breakout Sessions
Closing Comments Although there are no photos
attached with the final hour of the meeting, we
do have aggregated data that we have forwarded
to you from internal/external breakout
sessions. Thanks to all who attended and
contributed to the success of this conference.
We hope that you enjoyed the show. For those of
you who were unable to join us on that day we
thank you for all your hard work during the
