- Think about what you know about Myspace, Bebo and
Facebook? Do you use these websites?
3Aims of the Workshop
- Our aims are to inform you about
- What comes under the term cyber bullying
- What social networking websites are, examples of
websites, their features, and how they can pose a
threat to individuals - What MSN Messenger is, and the features of the
service.
4What is Cyber Bullying?
- According to the Government website for Public
Services, cyber bullying is - Cyberbullying is when one person or a group of
people aim to threaten, tease or embarrass
someone else by using a mobile phone, the
internet or other technologies. - Taken from www.direct.gov.uk
5What are Social Networking Websites?
- Social networking websites are websites such as
Bebo, MySpace and Facebook, which allows people
to display information about themselves, meet new
friends and communicate with others.

- Showing skins which the user has created

8What are the main features of MySpace and how can
it be used?
- MySpace allows users to
- Create a profile about themselves, their
hobbies, interests, etc - To add photo albums to their profiles.
- Add their schools and colleges to find friends
and hear about events. - Recently, MySpace have added applications, such
as games, which can be added to profiles. - It also allows to discover different types of
music, play videos and keep a blog/online diary,
to name a few. - Comment boxes on the users profile and
individual photographs allow others to comment
and communicate with them.
9What are the main features of Facebook and how
can it be used?
- The user creates a profile describing about
themselves, much like Bebo and MySpace. - Photo albums can also be uploaded, and the user
can tag their friends in the photograph. This
is also a recent addition to MySpace. - Applications are used widely in Facebook, with
personality quizzes, games, etc. - The user can add their colleges and workplaces to
find friends also.
- The commenting feature on Facebook is named The
Wall and features on a live feed on the
individual users homepage.

13What is MSN Messenger?
- MSN stands for Microsoft Network
- Offers services such as free and paid email
accounts - Also offers instant messaging program called
Windows Live Messenger, which is commonly and
formerly known as MSN Messenger, or simply MSN.
14How can it be used and what features does it have?
MSN display name and chosen photograph
Link to Hotmail account
Links to other websites, competitions, etc.
This is where contacts are usually listed and
whether they are on or offline. If the contact is
double-clicked on, a conversation window opens.
15What other features does MSN have?
- The conversation window allows for one-to-one
private messaging, but other can be added for a
group conversation. - Ability to have video/webcam conversations
- The individual can block any of their contacts
for whatever reason and also unblock when they
wish. - Games can also be played whilst having a
conversation over the instant messenger.
