2The Truth About Jenin
3Oy Vay! Massacre!500 Palestinians were Killed!
4Really 500?Are you sure?
5Positive?
6100???
7The Israelis claim it was only 50 or so. Most of
them terrorists who died in fierce battle.
8Fierce battle? Its so banal! Massacre is much
juicier! We have to sell newspapers, you know.
Darn those Israelis! Trying to kill us a good
story. We wont let them!
9Lets play it up!Lets find some eyewitnesses!
"Kamal Anis, a labourer" (Times), "Kamal Anis,
28" (Telegraph), "A quiet, sad-looking young man
called Kamal Anis" (Independent) - and the same
handful of victims - "A man named only as Bashar"
(Telegraph), "the burned remains of a man,
Bashar" (Evening Standard), "Bashir died in
agony" (Times). You'd think with so many
thousands massacred there'd be a bigger selection
of victims and distraught loved ones, wouldn't
you? But apparently not.
Mark Steyn, letter to the editor of Daily
Telegraph,(Filed 20/04/2002)
10The Israeli army butchered us!Oh, yeah?
Tabaat Mardawi, a senior member of Palestinian
Islamic Jihad who surrendered to Israeli forces
in Jenin "It was like hunting ... like being
given a prize. I couldn't believe it when I saw
the soldiers," he said. "The Israelis knew that
any soldier who went into the camp like that was
going to get killed." He added "I've been
waiting for a moment like that for years."
(An interview with captured terrorist Tabaat
Mardawi On CNN, April 23, 2002)
11Did I see tens of people killed? Frankly, no.
Israel Defense Forces spokesmen have said that
the decision to use infantry to spearhead the
attack rather than using air power and
artillery stemmed from a desire to limit
civilian casualties, even at the risk of higher
IDF casualties.
(An interview with captured terrorist Tabaat
Mardawi On CNN, April 23, 2002)
Israels casualties in Jenin were the highest of
all West bank fighting 23.
12Palestinian officials claim hundreds died in what
they are calling a massacre
Mardawi said there were about 100 Palestinians in
the battle -- 60 to 70 fighters from the camp and
20-30 members of the Palestinian security forces.
That figure is not so different from what Israel
has said. The Israel Defense Forces has said as
many as 200 fighters were in the camp but that
about 100 surrendered during the fighting.

Mardawi On CNN, April 23, 2002)
13We had more than 50 houses booby-trapped around
the camp.

"Of all the fighters in the West Bank we were the
best prepared," Omar says. "We started working on
our plan to trap the invading soldiers and blow
them up from the moment the Israeli tanks pulled
out of Jenin last month." Omar and other
"engineers" made hundreds of explosive devices
and carefully chose their locations.
(An interview with Omar, the bomb maker, who
escaped From Jenin, Al Ahram Egyptian weekly,
April 24, 2002)
14we placed the bombs about four meters apart
throughout the houses - in cupboards, under
sinks, in sofas."
According to Omar, everyone in the camp,
including the children, knew where the explosives
were located so that there was no danger of
civilians being injured. It was the one weakness
in the plan.

15Jenin camp was Totally Devastated

17Folks, we promised a Massacre. We cant lose
face. Lets do something!
- The Palestinians in Jenin have begun moving
bodies buried in the cemetery next to the
government hospital prior to operation "Defensive
Shield" into a "mass grave" of casualties of the
operation - facing the old cemetery. 26
Casualties from operation "Defensive Shield" are
buried in the grave. The bodies recently added,
those from the hospital cemetery, bring the
number up to 50 bodies. This in order to display
a larger number of Palestinian casualties that
were allegedly killed during the fighting in the
camp. - Israeli Army Report, April 26, 2002
1850 bodies? Thats all? Where are the 500 you
promised?

19Oh, well... Lets stage a Funeral!
- 2.5.02 the IDF is exposing for the first time
footage filmed from above, and in it, an on-film
testimony of the Palestinian's preparations for
UN committee's visit to Jenin. In this segment,
you see a staged funeral of a Jenin victim that
the Palestinians organized. This footage was
filmed three days ago, on April 28, 2002 at
around 1900 and it is very clear and easy to see
that the body has apparently "resurrected" and
that the whole funeral is actually one big
charade.
Dead body on stretcher
20Hey, Ahmed, come play dead for a minute, will
you?
dead man approaches stretcher
21Come, Come, it wont hurt. Its for the Cause!
dead man gets closer
22Now climb onto the stretcher, yes, thats fine.

23Atta boy! Can we begin the procession now?

24What the experts say
- British military expert David Holley tells the
BBC why he thinks there was not a massacre in the
Jenin refugee camp and why he believes Israel is
right to challenge the UN fact-finding mission.
Mr Holley, who is a Major in the British
Territorial Army and a military adviser to
Amnesty International, visited Jenin at the
weekend. - "What we have got here is possibly 54 bodies
found so far, with possibly 20 or 30 unaccounted
for but we can't really verify these figures
until the whole site is cleared. - "Talking to people and talking to witnesses, even
very credible witnesses, it just appears there
was no wholesale killing. - "Clearly the... civilians who died in the battle
were caught in crossfire - BBC, April 29, 2002
-
25No Jenin massacre says rights group
- The campaigning group Human Rights Watch has
completed a report into the Israeli army's
operation in the Palestinian town of Jenin. - The report says there was no massacre as the
Palestinians have claimed - BBC, May 3, 2002
-
26And even the UNis backing down
- Terje Roed-Larsen, the U.N. Middle East envoy
who described a horrifying scene last week after
a visit to the Jenin refugee camp My reaction is
that I have been totally misrepresented in parts
of the Israeli media, evidently quoting me
wrongly, saying that I stated that there was a
massacre in Jenin. I said nothing of the sort.
Terje Larsen in a CNN interview, April 22, 2002
27Next weekThe Jews used Moslem babies blood
in making Matzo for Passover!
