- A stormy June day
- the calm prairies of Kansas
- their May basket came
- a little late,
- always.
- In the hall mother shielded her six hour babe
- As a twister threatened to wisk us away.
- Instead it spun our souls into one.
- It was just like in Oz
- but no ruby slippers were left
- just the ones made for dress-up and play.
3Growing Up
- Planted on a farm to grow.
- Cute, cuddly kittens
- scratched and made my nose explode.
- Tom and Jerry were best,
- only when dads chocolate chair
- swallowed me by his side.
- Beautician was a fun game to play
- but the bows and curls never stayed.
- Lilacs and roses,
- pop the heads off for mom.
- Feed and herd the cows,
- help bail hay,
- ride in the combine,
- nurse the piglets,
- gather the eggs.
