- You and your parent/guardian will be here for
about 2 hours. -
- Scholarship announcements will be made after May
15, 2006
3Your Personal Information
- Staff will copy and return the following
information to you - Photo ID
- Social Security Card-make sure you have signed
your card - Birth Certificate or INS Card
- Your file must be complete before we can consider
you for a scholarship award.
4AGENDA
- Introduction of staff
- Watch Slide Show. Concerns, questions and
answers. - Formal Application Process (Sign paperwork.)
- Assessment of reading and math skills. Youth
applicants will remain here to complete an
assessment. This assessment will tell us at what
grade level you read and do math at. TRY
YOUR BEST! - Share Camp Schedule. Parents will go to another
room with staff. Staff will share the schedule
of camp and provide more details. - When all youth have finished their assessment,
they will join their parents.
5WHEN IS CAMP?
- June 26, through August 1, 2006. Monday to
Thursday. 830 a.m. to 330 p.m. No camp July 3
4, 2006. - Youth must be at camp every day. If you have a
concern about needing a day or days away from
camp. Talk to Jean or Steve today.

end of camp for demonstrating 95 percent skill
attainment in all 3 skill areas.

- Demonstrate regular daily attendance.
- Demonstrate the ability to be on time regularly
and return from breaks on time. - Remain in attendance the scheduled time.
- Dress appropriately and practice good hygiene.
- Can earn up to 5.00 per day and 10.00 on the
day of service.
30Cooperation,and Team Work
- Contribute to the group effort in meeting
training expectations. - Participate in all training activities and
events. - Demonstrate a positive attitude and honesty.
- Demonstrate effort in working toward goal
attainment, monitor self-progress, and exhibit
self control. - Demonstrate understanding, friendliness, respect
and adaptability to others. - Can earn up to 10.00 per day and 20.00 on the
day of service.

- Can earn up to 10.00 per day and up to 20.00 on
the day of service.
32How much can I earn?
- You can earn up to 25.00 per day and up to
50.00 per day on the service day. - Attendance, Punctuality and Dress Code earn up to
5.00 per day, 10.00 on service day. - Cooperation and Team Work earn up to 10.00 per
day, 20.00 on service day. - Work Quality and Work Quantity earn up to 10.00
per day, 20.00 on service day. - Up to 525.00 in 21 days.
33Safety
- Initial training on lifting, safety colors, and
safety procedures. - Safety is ongoing.
- Practiced and reflected upon daily.
- Safety is a topic of conversation with every
activity throughout the day. - Safety Certificate issued at the end of camp for
demonstrating safe behaviors 100 percent of the
time.
34Journal and Reflect
- Verbal reflection of each activity takes place at
the end of the activity within teams. - Verbal reflection of each teams activities takes
place at the end of each day as an entire group. - Written journals are completed at the end of each
week. - Journaling is structured to the weeks
events/activities.
35Can I be a part of the service day?
- Youth are required to perform at an eighty
percent (80) competency to attend their day of
service and to finish out camp. - Youth who do not meet this, are released from
camp without being paid any stipend earned. - Meeting eighty percent competency and attending
the service day is considered successful
completion of camp.

Hunger
- Each team chooses and designs their project for
their service day and delivers their project to
the community. - Team leaders guide the teams efforts.
- The service day is developed and delivered by the
team.

41Successful Completion
- Youth who participate in the service day, must
also attend the last two days of camp and have
met an eighty percent (80) completion rate
overall to be paid their earned stipend. - All youth and guardians/parents sign a contract
prior to the start of camp agreeing to the
expected performance of the participant.
42Next Steps
- You will be informed if you are awarded a
scholarship for camp by May 15 or if you are an
alternate. - Those awarded scholarships will be invited to a
camp orientation June 21 and June 22. - Camp starts June 26, 2006.
