District have teamed up to give Dawson HS
students the opportunity to graduate from high
school with college credits and for some
underclassmen, possibly, a two year college
degree.

Benefits
- Maximize the students time in high school by
selecting college courses that count for both
high school and college credits - Save thousands of dollars in college tuition,
fees, room and board compared to the cost of
being at a university - Out-of-District Fees are waived. For one course,
cost is approximately 111 a savings of 84.

- Core Curriculum courses are guaranteed to
transfer to any Texas public university - Dual Credit Students can participate in all ACC
activities and organizations, and have full use
of the college facilities like the library,
computer labs, fitness center, and athletic
events.

7Dual Credit Program
- Through Dual Credit, students may earn high
school and college credit for the same course. - ACC ENGL 1301 1302 DHS English IV (AB)
Selected dual credit courses may be included as
part of a students class schedule on the high
school campus.
OR
Students may elect to enroll in courses at ACC,
Pearland College Center, Manvel HS, or Nolan Ryan
JH/Shadow Creek Ranch for evening or summer
classes.

- Alvin Community College offers dual credit
students the opportunity to earn an Associates
Degree in General Studies, which is basically the
core requirements plus 18 college elective
credits.
Some of students have graduated from ACC with an
Associate Degree before receiving their high
school diploma!

Students must obtain a passing score on an
approved exam in the subject area related to the
college-level course to be taken.
