Q6 Explain how you know that people in your
community want this project. What evidence have
you collected?
  • We work in partnership with the asa NE Region,
Tees Valley Sport, the local authority and local
clubs. Swimming participation drops with age
after 16yrs, the number of adults swimming in the
area and those that are members of a club are
nearly 3 and over 6 below the national average,
respectively. A small number of adults swim in
with the clubs junior section and it is theirs
and the coaches aim that this unofficial group
can become established in the community. Public
will approach coaches on poolside asking for help
with strokes and training techniques. This shows
there is a need for a session for adults to
return to swimming, to develop their skills while
improving their health. The club lane ropes are
old and need replacing for safe and efficient
training and galas. The club always strive to
improve the standard of coaches to meet the needs
    of swimmers.
