which separates North Vietnam from South Vietnam - it was subjected to the heaviest bombing
campaign in the history of the world - Exploding land mines were buried all over this
province
5Donald Hassock, who was a radio operator, found
James Arthur Randall wounded on Hill 881. Austin
Deuel, a marine illustrator, was inspired by the
sight of Donald Hassock helping an injured
soldier (James Arthur Randall). Because of
Deuels inspiration, he drew a picture of this
sight.

Nineteen years later, the picture Austin Deuel
drew became the model for San Antonios memorial.
