• If is used to talk about situations that are
  contrary to fact, situations that are unreal if
  we compare them to the real ones (1, 2 and 3).
• Contrary to fact sentences have 2 parts
  
• If clause
  
  Conditional sentences
• Result clause
  
  
• If clause simple past
  Result clause would/could simple form
• You can start with either the If clause or the
  Result clause, only separate them with a comma
  (,) when If clause comes first.
• Were is used instead of was for ALL
  subjects.
• Examples
• If I were you, I would study more for the exam.
• If he were a doctor, he would help him get
  better.
• She would show us the way to her house if she
  were here.
