contrary to fact, situations that are unreal if
we compare them to the real ones (1, 2 and 3). - Contrary to fact sentences have 2 parts
- If clause
Conditional sentences - Result clause
- If clause simple past
Result clause would/could simple form -
- You can start with either the If clause or the
Result clause, only separate them with a comma
(,) when If clause comes first. - Were is used instead of was for ALL
subjects. - Examples
- If I were you, I would study more for the exam.
- If he were a doctor, he would help him get
