Title: People 4 Earth moving to a better world
1People 4 Earthmoving to a better world
2Our Vision
To create a sustainable future, the marketplace
will need to become more transparent. The true
impact of what we buy will become readily
available to all in a simple and accessible way.Â
Structures will be in place that guide consumers
and engage businesses with sustainable purchases
and practices. NGOs will work more closely
together and share information. Governments will
develop effective regulations geared toward
long-term sustainability solutions of our
societies and well-being of our peoples. We come
together as one and work collaboratively on a
global scale. People 4 Earth moving to a better
world
3But today most businesses
- Consider sustainability a new, complex and
uncharted territory without comprehensive
standards, clear guidelines or publicly available
information - Lack transparent partnerships with all
stakeholders - See sustainability as an inevitable in their
long-term strategy and activities but not in the
short term - Feel they have to be proactively involved in
sustainability initiatives with consumers,
employees and other stakeholders - Find it hard to find a tailored and suitable
approach towards sustainability, resulting in
mostly fragmented initiatives
4Most consumers
- Are only somewhat aware of their human footprint
but have little practical insight as to how to
reduce it - Expect companies to act in a sustainable and
responsible manner and are increasingly demanding
more transparency and assistance - Are uncertain where to turn to for information on
the sustainability impacts of products1 - Would favor an independent and transparent
sustainability standard which covers all aspects
of sustainability2

Omnibus survey Q4 08
5And NGOs and governments
- Look for leverage and opportunities for
cooperation - Would like to gather integrated concrete metrics
on sustainability and transform it into
information that can be used by companies and
consumers - Seek for standardization in reporting, enabling
easier comparison by all stakeholders turning
data into useable information - Would like to have more insight into their own
activities and to increase effectiveness of their
public initiatives - Want to translate global issues into hands-on
individual behavioral improvement for consumers
and businesses
6Structures are needed to realize change
Sustanability
- Guiding consumers toward better choices
(simplicity) - Engaging businesses and their employees into an
ongoing sustainability improvement process - Helping NGOs to cooperate and share information
(transparency) -
- Supporting governments to develop (international)
guidance regulations (global)
7People 4 Earth has introduced a
