Project Description

• System 21 (PMS) was created to solve many
  problems, such as to reduce paper work, to
  improve communication between departments and
  properties, and to reduce labor cost.
• System 21 is used by all Embassy Suites and
  DoubleTrees accounting, sales, and front office
  departments. In addition of travel agencies and
  central reservation systems.

Features and Benefits

• Front Office Application room status, assignment
  of rooms and rates, reports, and in-house guest
  information.
• Housekeeping Interface efficiency in changing
  room status and communicating to Front Office.
• Group Functions check in and check out of
  everyone at once, and different types of folios.

Demonstration Packages

• System 21 is a proprietary system, therefore
  there is no demonstration package on the web.
• However, I visited www. lodgistix.com and learned
  that System 21 functions were better organized on
  the screen.

Technology

• System 21 would be improved if all Hilton
  properties could adopt System 21 as their PMS.
• System 21 could be improved by having an
  interface with the restaurant.

Competitive Analysis

• Micros/Fidelio is System 21 major competitor.
• Strengths System 21 is faster and extended to
  all Embassy Suites and DoubleTrees- Assess to
  information.
• Weaknesses System 21 has a link-down time,
  which PMS does not function. It does not have
  restaurant interface.

Key Learning Points

• PMS and its interfaces, in particular the Front
  Office Application.
• System 21 and the standards established in
  chapter 5.
• Different Web Pages and vendors of PMS
• I met the goals by going directly to Embassy
  Suites and interviewing the Front Office Manager,
  reading the book, and checking Web Sites.

• Chapters 1, 5, and 11 were very useful to my
  project. Especially chapter 5, which I could
  compare System 21 to the standards established.

  was very interesting.
