Field Experience Hours

• The Field Experience process is crucial as it
  familiarizes prospective teacher candidates with
  the classroom, school environment, and diverse
  staff and student populations before beginning
  their own student teaching experience.
• All credential programs are required to utilize
  field expereince hours to attain and maintain
  accreditation status.
• If you have a special circumstance youd like us
  to consider, we will try our best to accommodate.

Once you receive your placement

• Contact the teacher immediately to arrange a
  meeting
• Youll want to set up a fixed schedule so they
  know when to expect you.
• Please take into consideration their holiday and
  bell schedules (i.e. many SD Unified Schools have
  1 minimum day per week, spring break can be
  anywhere from 1-4 wks long at some schools,
  Thanksgiving can be up to 1 wk. long at some
  schools, etc.)
• If you do not hear back from the teacher in 24-48
  hours, please leave them a message with the
  secretary that you will come by campus after
  school to meet with them.
• Fieldwork Guides If your course requires one,
  please give the teacher a copy of the Fieldwork
  Guide that you will be completing so they know
  what you will be working on while there.

Once you receive your placement (continued)

• Evaluation Form At the conclusion of the hours,
  have the host teacher complete the evaluation
  form. Steps for turning it in
• Do NOT mail the field experience evaluation form.
• When complete, place the form in envelope
  provided.
• Host teacher seals the envelope and signs over
  seal.
• Hand deliver your envelope to Olivia Silva.

Professionalism Standards

• TB Test Certificate of Clearance
• If you have not brought in these items yet,
  bring them in ASAP. You CANNOT be placed until
  this is complete. Hours you complete before
  turning these items in WILL NOT be counted.
• Attendance tardiness (teachers have been asked
  to communcate with us regularly.
• Parking (visitor or unmarked parking)
• Professional language
• Dress for success (attached see dress code for
  clinical practice)
• Go to school site if you have not heard from the
  teachers within 24-48 hours.
• Check with your professor or syllabus to see if
  they have any other requirements
