Title: The 21st Century Classroom

1
The 21st Century
Classroom
  • Welcome to the Future Welcome to our Reality.
  • BY Suzie Staples

2
What is a 21st Century Classroom?
  • It is a classroom that uses the latest
    technology from projector screens, to
    audio-visual equipment, computers,
notebook/laptops for each student in the
classroom, to create a technology based
    educational learning environment, that
    encompasses all curriculum material.
  • An environment that transcends all other
    traditional classroom environments.

Who are our 21st Century Teachers?
  • They are you and me. They are the teachers you
work with everyday. Those that want to find that
special tool, that one strategy, that will be the
ground breaker, the aha! for a struggling
    child.
  • They are the teachers who use technology easily,
and they are the teachers who are often times
afraid of the unknown, but willing to learn
    something new.

5
How can I incorporate 21st Century Learning into
my classroom?
  • Open yourself up to new experiences.
  • Remember that we have children who learn and
    experience in different ways.
  • Brainstorm ideas with your class, what
    possibilities there are with technology.
  • Reach out to your colleagues when you want to
learn something new, or even teach something you
    have learned.

6
Ideas for using technology in the classroom
  • Online journaling or written reflections- after
any activity, students reflect their experiences,
what they would do differently, how they could
    improve.
  • Vocabulary Content- online presentations, using
the required vocabulary for a lesson in Math,
    Reading, Science, or Social Studies.
  • Historical Power Point Presentations. Research
skills, writing process, editing, and publishing.
  • Publishers Material online. Using the Social
Studies publishers material online, text book,
    quizzes, map reading, math, science.
  • Other additional resources Web quests and Search
    Engines
