Welcome to St Charles School, Ryde
A Catholic Systemic School in the Archdiocese of
Sydney

Our History
  • St Charles School, Ryde, commenced in 1858 The
    first teachers were lay teachers.
  • The Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart
    (Brown Josephites) and an Australian Order
    founded by Mother Mary MacKillop taught in the
    school from 1883-1891.
  • The Sisters of Mercy also worked in the school
    for many years.
  • To this day, the rich Mercy charism is
    acknowledged, valued and celebrated by the St
    Charles community.

St Charles School caters for boys and girls from
Kindergarten to Year 6.

The School is situated in spacious grounds with
plentiful play areas.

A range of play and shade areas are provided

Each morning we gather in the Quad for Assembly.
We pray together and celebrate our achievements
Each week we raise our flag and sing the National
Anthem with pride.

We gather as a school community to celebrate
liturgies in our historic sandstone St Charles
Borromeo Church.

tradition and important events in our school year.

Father Paul Monkerud is our Parish Priest. The
School and Parish work together to support the
spiritual and pastoral needs of the St Charles
Community.
The Presbytery and Parish office are located in
the school grounds.
