2- My lesson and myself
- My lesson objective was to promote body movement
and oral language skills - I am a special needs infant /preschool teacher in
Quincy California. I serve infants from birth to
five years old. Our students have delays in many
developmental areas, with speech and language
being of primary importance to all of the students
3My expectations I anticipated that making my
lesson more visual through a power point
presentation would increase the students motor
and language development.
4- My Successs
-
- Success on this program were as followed
- The children love the program and verbally
request it all the time. - The children enjoy stopping between each section
of the wiggle time program to verbally anticipate
the next section
5My Realities
- During this class I learned how to get on a chat
line for the first time in my life. - I learned how to do a power point lesson .
- I learned how important a fast computer is as
well as how critical technical support is. - I learned how to use clip art.
6There was a lot of frustration on my part, when
my computer at school did not perform the same as
my computer at home where everything worked.
Technical support is a critical part of teachers
taking the time to use technology. The alphabet
portion of the program needs to be able to
manually move ahead so the children have time to
come up and match their alphabet cookie to the
appropriate letter.
7Chart
8Explanation of the chart
- The children were fasinated with circle time
being on the computer. Eye contact and attending
to task improved on every child , consequently
improving the number of times they vocalized and
the number of times they appropriately moved
their limbs.

10Lesson Revision
The next time I make a power point presentation
for circle time I will include more songs, and
more visuals. I think this lesson could be used
on an individual basis too. All in all I must
say I was rather surprised with just how
successful the lesson was, and how much it
motivated the children.
11Summary
In summary, I would say this has been more pain
free of a learning process than I had
anticipated. The children love to interact and
participate with the computer. It is remarkable
how much these children know about computers. For
many teachers, who were not born on the computer
I can not stress enough how much technical
support they need. When things dont work it is
very frustrating. Computers offer a host of
opportunities to the special needs population.
Hopefully preschool standards in this program
will continue to be updated, making it all
current.
