departmental membersby me. They can alter and
post web pages by using their system user names
and passwords. However, remember that the Web
Masteris ultimately responsible for content.
6A Lot of Areas Need Files and Folders
- When you get pages built, you can add folders.
- Inside folders, the first page can be an index
file index.htm or index.html However, they do
not have to have this extension, ONLY the Main
Page Needs the index.htm or index.html for the
web site (check with your server).

- Click Format
- Click Background
- Select General
- Title
- Type in Your Title for the PageIt Should Be
Short But Descriptive - Browsers Search as Part of Finding Web Pages
- They Also Search the First Page for Text

- In Page Properties,
- Click on Background
- Check Background Picture, Use Gif on Disk
- Click on Down Triangle for Background Color, Text

11Inserting a Table
- Click on Table on the Toolbar
- Click on Insert
- Choose Two Rows and Two Columns
- Specify Width as 620 pixels
- This is printable on a regular sheet of paper
on most printers.

13Change the Table PropertiesLeft Click into the
Table and Right Click
- Click the down triangleand change the Layoutto
Center. - Set the Border Size to 5.
- Set the Light border tolight gray.
- Set the Dark border to dark gray.
14Left Click into the Left Two Cells and then Right
Click. Change the Cell Width to 60 Pixels.
15Highlight the two Left Cells Again and Right
Click.Change the Background Color to Dark Blue.
16Highlight the Two Top Cells. Right Click and
Select Merge Cells.
17Pull Down the Insert Menu. Select Picture. Get
a gif from youre A disk and insert it.
Type in a Name for the Web Page.
18Splitting Cells
- Go to the cell or row you want to split.
- Click inside the cell or row and then click the
right mouse. - Select Split Cells.
- Choose two columns
- Next, click inside the left cell and set the
width at 75 Pixels.
19Insert a Table in a Table
- Click on Table.
- Insert.
- Specify a table of one column and five rows.
- Set the Cell Spacing at three and the border
width at three. - Apply

23Search Protocol for Files
- When a file search is designated on a hyperlink,
the search is directed by the specified location. - The hyperlink directs the search from the same
directory to anywhere. - The search goes something like this.

- Link Has the search directed to the web page
it is on. - Link.htm Has the search will go to the folder
of the web page and look for a file. - http//www.marshall.edu/criminal-justice/link.htm
Has the search go to a web site marshall.edu and
then go to the folder criminal-justice and find a

25Inserting a Hyperlink
- You can designate anything on the web page as a
link. - An Icon
- Or text Link
- Select the Icon or Text and right click on it.
- On the menu select hyperlink and type in the
hyperlink. - You can also do hyperlinks to Bookmarks.

26Bookmarks
- These are Targets on the Web Page. They allow
you to search for certain places on a web page. - Click in the table on the left side with the five
rows. - Select Insert on the Menu.
- Select Bookmark on the Pull Down Menu.
- Insert a Bookmark entitled Links.

Now do it again and add a Bookmark for Email.

- You can Add More Gifs.
- You can Add Pictures.
- You can change the color or background of Tables.
