Title: Rushey Green Time Bank
1Rushey Green Time Bank
- A Time Bank Based in a General Practice in the UK
2Our vision is to achieve a cohesive community in
the Rushey Green area, where neighbours know
neighbours and can rely on each other for help
and support. Where people of different ages,
cultures, backgrounds and abilities interact with
each other on an equal footing and with mutual
respect and understanding.
VISION
3MISSION
- Our mission is to empower the residents of
- Catford (including but not exclusively the
- patients of Rushey Green Group Practice) to
- improve their own health and sense of well-
- being, and thus improve the health of the
- Catford community as a whole.
4Social relations and health
- As people start to help each other and get
- to know their neighbours, they rebuild a
- sense of trust and start to feel that they are
part - of the community - they rebuild community
- wealth and health. They are enriched.
- They are co-producing their improvement in
- wellbeing and in social functioning despite
health - problems.

8What has been challenging?
- Support workers to be more involved and
understand the value of Time Banking integrate
Time Banking activities with what Wayne and
Stephen like to do and within their schedules - Communication between the support workers in
order to support Wayne and Stephen to be more
consistently involved - Providing a variety of activities/meaningful
reciprocal exchanges - Competing with other activities at day centres
- Getting other members to take the initiative to
come alongside Wayne and Stephen this will
gradually happen as Wayne and Stephen become more
recognized, attend activities, as relationships
grow, and as communication is improved.
9Learning points
- Communication with support workers and with
Wayne and Stephen - Have regular meetings with the support workers
- Closing the walking group without providing an
alternative event - Scope and expectations, timeline for success -
what is success? - No getting stressed about exchanges and instead
focus on the benefits of social activities
