A bit about the actual country

• Tunisia is located in North Africa, on the coast
  of the Mediterranean Sea. The northern part of
  the country is covered by mountainous
  agricultural land while the south is covered by
  the Sahara Desert. The economy is heavily
  dependent on olive oil and phosphate mining.
  Tunisia was the site of ancient Carthage, the
  notable civilization 200 years before Christ. In
  its modern history it was ruled by France until
  1956. Islam is Tunisia's state religion.

The history of Tunisia

• Tunisia has been a part of Fenician,
  Carthagesian, Roman and Arab empires and they all
  left their beautiful traces here. Tunis and
  Carthage date back to pre-roman times, El Jem has
  its own Colosseum. Kairouan is considered a young
  city it was founded in the 6-th century by the
  Arabs.

Tunis (capital)

• Tunis is the wonderful capital of Tunisia. As
  well as lovely Berber jewellery, mosaic type
  carpets, amazing clothes and fascinating pottery,
  Tunis has many beautiful mosques including
  Al-Zitoon mosque and many more.

Djerba

• The Isle of Djerba is situated in the south-east
  of Tunisia on the Gulf of Gabes. Like Tunis
  Djerba has many fascinating things as well as
  brilliant beaches, beautiful cafes with fabulous
  artistic mosaics covering the walls. Djerba also
  has delicious fruit such as pomegranate, apples
  and figs.

Sousse

• Sousse is also a very beautiful and big city like
  Tunis and Djerba. Sousse also has plenty of olive
  oil like many Tunisian cities. Sousse also has
  very nice fish coming from its brilliant seas.

Kairouan

• Kairouan is a very old city founded in the year
  670 when the Arab general Uqba bin Nafi (RAAH)
  selected a site in the middle of a dense forest
  as his military post. He did very well in
  spreading Islam Throughout North Africa.
• The Uqba mosque was built by Uqba ibn Nafi
  after establishing the city of Kairouan. The
  minaret of the mosque was added in 724-727C.E.
  and is considered to be one of the most beautiful
  architectural works of the early Islamic period.

  many mosques some of which are famous around the
  world. The Muslims in Tunisia are very lucky to
  have such a lovely place to live in with many
  mosques near them.
