• What are our main goals?
• Bias reduction (mean and transients)
• tropical variability (MJO, ENSO)
• precipitation
• Added/improved functionality (eg indirect effect)
• Scalability on next generation machines
• The perception of a closed shop in model
  development.
• Where are the opportunities for improved
  collaboration?
• Where are the barriers?

Framework for working together

• Definition of model component requirements
• By this I mean what functionality do we (not just
  AMWG) insist components have? Who provides the
  additional functionality?
• Evaluation should take place in developmental
  version
• What metrics do we use? (measures of
  quality/accuracy of simulation, functionality,
  computational cost, quality and flexibility of
  code?)
• How are those metrics chosen?
• Policy for working in the developmental version
• Reciprocity (resources lt-gt early involvement in
  evaluation development of components)
• Offers of co-authorship
• Requirement of sharing code
• Needs for subjecting new components, routinely
  and (semi-) publicly to all metrics
• Evaluation in coupled context ASAP!
