Objectives of this presentation are
  • To learn how to grow orchids in Fort Worth.
  • Learning how they grow in nature will help us
    understand how WE can grow them.
  • To learn the basic WANTS of the orchids and how
    to manipulate them so they will grow well here in
    Fort Worth.
  • To apply knowledge of the orchids origin to their
    WANTS.
  • To have a good time!

Water Quantity - amount ONE INCH, is a
good watering, but not applied in 30 seconds!
Applied over 30 minutes or more is great! YOU
CAN APPLY YOUR FERTILIZERS WITH
EACH WATERING. YOU CANNOT APPLY YOUR
FERTILIZER WITH EACH REFRESHING.
frequency GOOD WATERING every 4-14 days,
depending on A,T and S. Refreshing may be as
often as 3 times per day, just wet the leaves and
let dry. humidity above 50 if possible.
If not, WATER MORE! Quality salts -
measured in PPM parts per million or Electrical
Conductivity available always get at least
one complete analysis. pH -
acidity/alkalinity (Calcium - basic Sulfur -
acidic) 6-8 Okey contaminants - Chlorine,
Calcium, SODIUM FROM WATER SOFTENERS A DEFINITE
NO NO! distilled DO NOT USE PURE DISTILLED
WATER - you need at least 80 ppm GOOD SALTS in
your water remix regular water with distilled,
at least 20 .

  • The only free thing left, besides radio!
  • 5 mph constant would be good, 20 mph better!
  • Orchids are plants, plants breath 24 hours a day!
  • Orchids produce oxygen with light and they
    consume it day and night!
  • They dont flap their wings or run, or even have
    lungs. SO YOU HAVE TO MOVE IT FOR THEM
  • BEWARE of poorly burned Lp gas fumes and car
    fumes. Many flowers will let you know their
    prescence by wilting in a heartbeat.
