2Who Are The Wolverines?
3We are a Bantam Division football team based in
Sherwood Park. We play the game of Canadian
Football in the Capital District Minor Football
Association. We offer our program to young
people who are 13 to 15 years old and are not in
Grade 10 this fall.

- No older than 15 as of Dec. 31 of this year
5- Not going into Grade 10 this fall
6- Interested in playing a great game on a great
team
7- Interested in making new friends and playing with
old ones

24What if I have never played football before?
- No problem!
- Every year we have players who have never played
football. - We spend a great deal of time teaching.
- This ensures that when we play our first game,
- all of our players go into the game with
confidence in their ability - regardless of their previous football experience.
25How much does football cost?
- Football is relatively inexpensive.
- Registration is 200.00
- We ask for a 300.00 equipment deposit in the
form of a cheque which we do not cash - The Wolverines do not ask for a fundraising
deposit
26What equipment do I need?
- All equipment helmet, pads, uniform is owned
and supplied by the team. - The only equipment you need to supply is personal
gear, like footwear and athletic supporters.
27When does the season run?
- You can register now, if you like.
- Main registration is near the end of April.
- We will have a Spring Camp in May.
- Training camp starts mid-July.
- The season goes from mid-August to the beginning
of October, - with playoffs going into early November.
28Do you fundraise?
- Yes, we do.
- Football equipment for one player would cost us
over 600 to buy new. - We dont have to replace it all every year
- But registration fees do not cover our costs.

- Heres what we do to raise money.
30The Howler
- The Howler is our annual gala event.
- It is a mixer / dance / silent auction with live
entertainment. - All families are expected to sell tickets for the
Howler and solicit silent auction item
donations. - It is one great party!
31Grey Cup Raffle Tickets
- Grey Cup Pool tickets are becoming popular again.
- Each family is required to sell a book of about
40 Grey Cup raffle tickets. - This is an easy fundraiser and allows families to
purchase all the tickets themselves if they wish.
32Other Initiatives
- There may be other obligations such as
- Concessions
- Helping out with 50/50 at our home games
- There is a small number of bingos we ask for
volunteers to work these
33Are there many injuries in football?
- Football is a safe sport.
- It is a high-impact collision sport, and injuries
can occur. - However, the risk of injury is statistically
lower than other sports such as hockey, soccer or
lacrosse. - Additionally, the Wolverines maintain a highly
qualified training staff, - along with a formal arrangement with a team
physician.
34What is my time commitment?
- Our practice schedule is
- Start of Camp (Mid-July) to End of August
- Monday to Thursday
- 600 PM-830 PM
- After School Starts in September
- Monday practice is eliminated
- Games are played Saturday or Sunday,
- 8 to 9 games per season,
- plus exhibition and playoffs
35But that runs into our family summer holidays.
What can we do?
- Again, No Problem.
- Go ahead and plan your holidays. We will work
around your schedule. - Our philosophy is a simple one
- We believe that there are things in life more
important than football. - Therefore we will always defer to a players
obligations in the areas of - Family,
- School,
- and Religion.
36Tell me about your facilities.
- Our practice facility is located at Sherwood
Heights Park. - We have a fully-lit practice field, and we use
the Rink Shack for our clubhouse and dressing
room. - We play our home games at Strathcona Athletic
Park (Bev Facey CHS). - Our home park is equipped with lights,
scoreboard, dressing rooms, and full public
address for each game.
37I dont want to be a benchrider. Is it true
that your team plays all players every game?
- Not only is it true .
- it is a fundamental cornerstone of our
philosophy. - The Wolverine Promise is a covenant that the
team makes with every player. - It clearly states that every player will play in
every regular season and exhibition game. - Playing time is determined on the basis of a
players hustle, desire, commitment, and ability
in that order.
