2September-November 1620
The Mayflower Voyage
-The Pilgrims leave Plymouth Harbor in England on
a ship called the Mayflower.
-They are hoping to find freedom in America to
worship the way they want.
-There were 102 passengers.
3December 1620-February 1621 The First Days of
Plymouth
-The Mayflower lands at Plymouth on December 11,
1620.
-The Pilgrims first winter is very difficult.
-They suffer from the bitter cold and lack of
food.
4March 1621 Pilgrims
and Wampanoag Meet
-The Pilgrims are introduced to the Wampanoag
Indians.
-They exchange gifts and become friends by
signing the Treaty of Friendship.
5Spring and Summer 1621 Sharing
-The Wampanoag share their knowledge of hunting,
fishing, and farming.
6October 1621 The
Harvest Feast
-The Governor of Plymouth, William Bradford,
declares a feast to give thanks for their first
harvest.
-This is where we get the name, THANKSGIVING
DAY.
-90 Wampanoag are invited to join the 52 Pilgrims.
