101. What kind of people does God want us to
produce in this body of believers?
112 Peter 311-14Since everything will be
destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought
you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives
as you look forward to the day of God and speed
its coming. That day will bring about the
destruction of the heavens by fire, and the
elements will melt in the heat.
12But in keeping with his promise we are looking
forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home
of righteousness. So then, dear friends, since
you are looking forward to this, make every
effort to be found spotless, blameless and at
peace with him.
132. What kinds of experiences do we need to have
in order to become those kinds of people?
14Acts 242-47They devoted themselves to the
apostles teaching and to the fellowship, to the
breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was
filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous
signs were done by the apostles. All the
believers were together and had everything in
common.
15Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to
anyone as he had need. Every day they continued
to meet together in the temple courts. They broke
bread in their homes and ate together with glad
and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the
favor of all the people. And the Lord added to
their number daily those who were being saved.
163. What kinds of leaders (plural) are needed to
provide those kinds of experiences?
17Titus 21-8You must teach what is in accord with
sound doctrine. Teach the older men to be
temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled,
and sound in faith, in love and in endurance.
Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in
the way they live, not to be slanderers or
addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good.
Then they can train the younger women to love
their husbands and children,
18to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at
home, to be kind, and to be subject to their
husbands, so that no one will malign the word of
God. Similarly, encourage the young men to be
self-controlled. In everything set them an
example by doing what is good. In your teaching
show integrity, seriousness and soundness of
speech that cannot be condemned, so that those
who oppose you may be ashamed because they have
nothing bad to say about us.
194. What kind of pastor is needed to train those
kinds of leaders?
201 Timothy 412-16Dont let anyone look down on
you because you are young, but set an example for
the believers in speech, in life, in love, in
faith and in purity. Until I come, devote
yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to
preaching and to teaching.
21Do not neglect your gift, which was given you
through a prophetic message when the body of
elders laid their hands on you. Be diligent in
these matters give yourself wholly to them, so
that everyone may see your progress. Watch your
life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them,
because if you do, you will save both yourself
and your hearers.
225. What kinds of experiences does the pastor
need to have in order to be that kind of pastor?
231 Timothy 611But you, man of God, flee from all
this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith,
love, endurance and gentleness.
242 Peter 318But grow in the grace and knowledge
of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
