Simulation Project!
  • NSU is embarking on an exciting simulation
    project that students will participate in
    throughout their education program
  • At the undergraduate level, students will work in
    teams in a game-like simulation in which they
    make decisions impacting the issue of diversity
    in a simulated school
  • Start date for the simulation is slated for
    either the Fall 2007 or Winter 2008

Class Roster Reconciliation
  • If after week 2, there are names of students on
    the roster and they have not attended, then
    please submit your corrected roster to

Class Time
  • On-site evening classes meet for 4 hours, from
    6-10pm or 5-9. The class must meet from 6-10pm
  • Online classes should meet at least once per week
    in a synchronous fashion through tools like text
    chat, Live Classroom or Elluminate. If you are
    unfamiliar with these technologies, you can
    request training in them.

  • Attendance should be taken and monitored
  • It is unethical to dismiss classes early - you
    are NOT doing the students any favors by
    dismissing class early even if they ask you to.
  • You are the professor of students who have paid a
    lot to take your course give them their moneys
    worth!

Matriculation Requirements
  • Students must comply with the admissions
    requirements established by the Fischler School
    of Education Human Services. On admission,
    students declare themselves as intended education
    majors.

  • Students must earn a grade of C or better in COMP
    1500, MATH 1040, MATH 1050, and MATH 1060 or
    their equivalents.
  • Students must earn a cumulative GPA of 2.5 prior
    to matriculation into an education major.

    testing requirement (CLAST, General Knowledge, or
    equivalent sections of PRAXIS) have been passed
    before registration for any Benchmark II

    Examination requirements as soon as
    possible.  Some students wait and hope for the

What should be on the Certificate of Authorship?
  • A visible grade on the cover.
  • A happy face, a check mark, or good job does
    not qualify as a grade. If students receive these
    types of grades they are instructed to request
    a letter/numeric grade from you and to alert the
    lead faculty members.

Return of Critical Tasks
  • You are required to return Critical Tasks to the
    students.
  • If on-site, return the CTs to your students in
    the 8th week, or require students to provide you
    with a large stamped, self-addressed envelope
  • If online, return the CTs to your students in by
    email attachment

What is a Portfolio?
  • As a part of the education technology course, the
    curriculum includes working with evidence of
    achievement (Critical Tasks). This evidence
    includes creating a portfolio to organize and
    document the requirements for Nova Southeastern
    University undergraduate requirements. Benchmark
    Portfolio is a collection and evidence of best
    practices produced while at Nova Southeastern
    University.
