Introduction to ProteomicsOctober 31
November 1, 2006
Attn All Chromatographers!!!
New Course!!!
  • PROTEOMICS An introduction to the identification
    and quantitation of proteins
  • for understanding disease, identifying drug
    targets and discovering biomarkers.
  •
  • Although scientists have been studying the
proteins involved in cellular process for many
years, recent technological advances have greatly
accelerated this work and, for the first time,
have made it possible to identify and quantitate
large numbers of cellular proteins in moderate
    time frames. These technologies include
    two-dimensional gel electrophoresis,
chromatography and mass spectrometry. These are
coupled with advanced computer technologies to
    identify changes in protein concentrations
    (differential expression), understand biochemical
pathways, better understand disease states and to
identify target proteins for drug discovery.
  • This is a one and a half day classroom lecture
course focusing on the purposes and goals of
proteomics and discussing the technologies and
approaches currently used to identify and
    quantitate cellular proteins.
