7 Bilateral Links

8 Foreign Language Assistants
- Language support from a native speaker
- Students from 20 countries worldwide - includes
native speakers of French, German, Spanish,
Italian, Chinese, Japanese and Russian - Apply in early March. Assistants work 12 hours
a week paid out of school budget (6396) - Primary schools can now apply for an assistant
or share one between up to three schools

- Bilateral joint curriculum projects focussing on
any area - Accepting applications now, up to end July 2007

- Joint curriculum projects between clusters of
schools in the UK and clusters of schools in two
African countries - Aims to increase knowledge and understanding of
each others societies and challenge stereotypes - Open to all schools working in clusters of
three. - Funding of up to 15,000 per partnership (9
schools) per year is available for up to 3 years - Application deadline 30 November 2007

partnerships. Select from a) building effective
partnerships b) a global dimension in the

understanding education and development - The training programme is offered in
collaboration with regional and national
education providers
17Teachers International Professional Development
(TIPD)
- Experience good practice abroad for 5-10 days
- Study visits with focus on school improvement
- Minimum of two teachers per school
- Transport/accommodation/internal
travel/insurance - LA-led visits LA selects teachers and themes
- Report within one month of return
- Also delivered by Specialist Schools and
Academies Trust, Best Practice Network and League
for the Exchange of Commonwealth Teachers
18 International Placements for Headteachers (IPH)
- 10-12 Headteachers per group
- Cross-phase/single-phase individual/group
applications - Experienced, trained Headteacher/facilitator
- Transport/accommodation/internal
travel/insurance - Minimum of three years experience
- Most visits take place in term-time
- Individual report within one month of return

- The International School Award is now available
with three different categories, allowing schools
to build towards the Award. The three categories
are as follows - Foundation for schools beginning international
work. - Intermediate for schools that are beginning to
work with a partner school - International School Award for schools that
have developed an international ethos.
