3The FIRST Organization
- The organization was founded by Dean Kamen.
- FIRST is a program that was started so students
could get hands on experience with science and
technology. - FIRST reaches more than 20,000 students.
- Over 600 teams compete in 17 competitions.
4Regionals
Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond,
Virginia
- Our regional competition in Richmond is the
largest regional Robotics competition in the
country. - Sixty-six teams competed in the 2000-2001
Richmond regional competition.
5Nationals
Epcot Center in Orlando, Florida
- Over seven hundred teams from all around the
world compete in the national competition. - Our team has an automatic invitation this year
and every alternate year.
6The Webbinators
- Our team consists of three sub-teams Robotics,
Marketing, and Animation team. - Our team learns skills in areas such as
Engineering, Computer Graphics and Design, and
Entrepreneurship.
7Marketing
- Our Marketing team has gained entrepreneurship
skills from BBT marketing classes. - They are responsible for raising money and
getting our name out to the public. - The Marketing team also manages our budget.
8Robotics
- The Robotics team is responsible for building
and planning the robot. - They learn valuable engineering skills.
- They learned to work as a team.
9Animation
- The Animation team learns how to use 3-D Studio
Max, a very complex computer graphics design
program. - This team creates a thirty-second commercial
about what FIRST means to our team.
10Teachers and Volunteers
- We have had help from some of the best and most
motivated teachers at Webb High School. - We have also had help from the kind people at
Plastic Ingenuity and BBT.
