• Deficiency letters have been mailed

Graduation/Teacher Licensure

• Traditional degree seeking students
• Receive graduation clearance letter from
  Registrars Office
• Post-baccalaureates seeking licensure only
• Not graduating, clearance letters are not
  available
• Contact advisor/program coordinator for possible
  eligibility letter

• After August 2004, ALL applicants will need to
  meet new policies including content tests.
• New policy will apply regardless of when program
  was completed

How to Apply

• Use DPI Website (found on handout)
• Select Initial In-State Teaching or Pupil
  Services (PI-1602-IS) application
• Attach fingerprint cards (if applicable)
• Attach payment
• Attach notarized Conduct and Competency Form
• Mail to the UW-Whitewater address with everything
  listed above attached to back of application

Applications are not returned to applicants!

• Completed applications will be sent directly to
  the Department of Public Instruction

What not to include with licensure application

• UW-Whitewater transcripts
• But do furnish previous degree transcripts
• Self-addressed/stamped envelopes
• Applications are sent in batches save your
  stamps

Out of State Applications

• Use the national web site
• You may furnish self addressed envelope
• Out-of-State applications can be returned to you
  or mailed to the appropriate state agency
• Also apply for your Wisconsin teaching license
  before the August 2004 deadline date

Licensure Processing Timeline

• Submit application to Licensure Office (WH 2003)
  in December or early January
• Applications take approximately 2-4 weeks to
  process in our office
• Applications processed on a first come basis
  after program is completed and posted.
• Once endorsed, 120 Day Certificates are
  automatically furnished.

120 Day Certificate

• Certificates are mailed to applicant once
  application has been endorsed and mailed to DPI
• Certificate approved by DPI .
• School districts have been notified by DPI to
  accept the certificates in lieu of the official
  license
