  • If sickness or unforeseen emergency makes it
necessary for you to be absent, you will be
expected to notify the Economic Community
Development (ECD) Coordinator , Erica Thompson _at_
918-331-3255, so that class can be cancelled or a
substitute teacher can be located. Please let
the ECD Coordinator know AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
  • Substitute teachers must have prior approval. The
approved teacher will get approval from ECD
    Coordinator prior to finalizing substitute
    arrangements.

5
  • Immediately following an accident, the instructor
should first turn off hazardous source of power
and move students out of equipment areas. The ECD
Staff should be notified immediately by dialing
    3333 from a TCTC phone or 331-3250/918-344-0002
from a cell phone. If necessary, first aid should
be applied or, in the event of a serious injury,
the victim should be transported by ambulance to
the hospital. Both the ECD Administrative
Assistant and the Evening Facilities Attendant
    are trained in First Response.
  • The ECD department follows the Good Samaritan Act
when an accident does occur. Please use your
best judgment in these situations and follow the
    procedure above.

6
  • The Board has approved attendance and grading
policies which will be in effect for both day and
evening school operations. Because we are legally
required to maintain accurate records of both
attendance and grades, you will be required to
follow the policy established by the Board.
Attendance is very important at Tri County
Technology Center, and all students are expected
to be in class every class session.
  • Class rosters will be in your class folder.
Please review each name and indicate attendance,
drops, no shows, or other specific information,
and return the folder at the end of class the
first night. If a student is not on your roster
the first night of class, send them to the EPC
    (Educational Planning Center).
  • In the event a student drops a class please
notify ECD personnel as soon as possible so we
    can keep our records current.

7
  • A class folder will be set up for each class
which will consist of the following
  • Attendance Sheet
  • Student Verification Sheet (pass this around for
students to verify that their information is
    correct)
  • Instructors will need to pick up their folder the
first night of class and drop off the Attendance
Sheet and any other paperwork the last night of
class. If by chance the office is closed please
put your paperwork in the envelope hanging on the
outside of the office door that is labeled
    Short-Term Courses.

8
  • Observations will be made by someone from the
Success Center staff. Observations are to assist
in providing support and recommendations for
    quality instruction and continuous improvement.
The results of your class observations and the
students evaluations will be discussed with you.

9
  • As classes have been scheduled, every effort has
been made to accommodate specific requests for
instructors. Classes will be held on the days as
outlined. If an emergency warrants a change,
contact the ECD Coordinator. Classes will be held
on the dates and the hours as listed. Your
adherence to these requests is appreciated.

10
  • A course syllabus will need to be available for
every course. All instructors are asked to update
and follow the syllabus for the courses they
teach. All class syllabi are available for
    reference in the EPC offices.

11
  • As classrooms and shop/lab areas are used both
day and night, it is helpful for instructors who
share areas to meet and work cooperatively in
    maintaining classroom and shop organization.
Short-Term Course instructors are encouraged to
    call daytime instructors, introduce themselves,
and share their willingness to cooperate in
    sharing facilities and equipment.

12
  • Class evaluations are conducted once during a
class. The evaluations will be completed some
time during your last week of class. These
evaluations will be conducted by staff members
and will be reviewed with the instructor. A
laptop will be brought to your classroom for each
    student to complete their evaluation
confidentially. If laptop is unavailable then a
    paper copy will be done.

13
  • Frequently used forms and documents may be
requested anytime from Erica, Laurie or Tonya.

14
  • Where applicable, students will receive a letter
grade based on the following grading scale.
  • A 90 - 100 F 0 - 69
  • B 80 - 89 I Incomplete
  • C 70 - 79 L Loss of Credit
  • If letter grade is not assigned please enter as a
    Pass/Fail for each student.
  • Teachers' grade books should clearly show the
criteria used for grading and should follow the
same criteria as outlined in the instructor's
syllabus. Attendance will represent 10 of the
    student's final grade (where applicable).
  • Grades should be noted on Attendance Sheet if you
are not using a grade book.

15
  • A decision to cancel a class due to insufficient
enrollment will be made upon the discretion of
the ECD Coordinator. Help from instructors in
recruiting students and encouraging enrollment in
the Tri County Technology Center programs is
appreciated. Everything possible will be done to
ensure that classes have enough students to run.
In those situations where classes have marginal
enrollment, the instructors help and patience
    are appreciated.

16
  • Mailboxes should be checked every night of class.
This is a major part of communication with ECD
instructors. Certificates will no longer be
printed except for classes where a student gets a
certification. This includes classes such as
Basic EMT, Basic Guard, etc. and if a student
requests them for verification to their employer.

17
  • Any maintenance problems should be reported to
the ECD Staff. Please report anything that needs
attention (lights burned out, heating and air
conditioning problems, unclean or unsafe shop and
classroom areas, equipment repairs and others).
Call the Evening Administrative Assistant at
    331-3250 as soon as possible.

18
  • Paydays are the 15th and the last day of the
month. (If payday falls on a weekend or holiday,
instructors will be paid the preceding workday.)
Checks will not be given to anyone except to the
person to whom the check is issued.
  • Loyalty Oath Contract must be signed before
first night of class. A copy of your Drivers
License and Social Security card must be turned
in before the first night of class.

supplies, tools or any type of equipment are
needed. Please do not purchase anything without a
    school purchase order.
